Frequently asked questions
What is Traf?
A private game between friends. You record a rip, an acoustic model scores it out of ten, and the score lands on a leaderboard shared only with the people in your league. There is a new winner every week. The full loop is on the how it works page.
Who makes it?
Cook My Fish Limited, a company registered in England and Wales, number 12100140. Details are on the company page.
Is it free?
Yes. No subscription, no purchases in the app, nothing to unlock.
Where can I get it?
It is on iPhone. The install button on the front page takes you to the current build. Android is coming; until it arrives, any recording you are sent still plays in your browser.
Do I need an account?
To play, yes: a first name, a last name, a username and an email address. There is no password. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email.
Who can hear my recordings?
The members of the leagues you post them to, and nobody else. Leagues are private and are joined by invite code. Traf has no public feed. The one exception is a link you choose to share yourself, which anyone holding the link can play, and which you can withdraw.
How is a recording scored?
By the Ripter Scale, an acoustic model that takes eleven measurements of the sound and returns one number out of ten. Then your leaguemates can rate it on a slider, and once anyone has, the peer rating replaces the model's score. A separate check rejects recordings that are not genuine before they are scored.
Why was my recording rejected?
Because the check decided it was not what it was meant to be: too quiet, a burp, a voice, a raspberry, playback of something else, a sound effect. The rejection screen says what was detected. Record again, closer to the microphone.
What is a season?
Every league runs in seasons, weekly by default. When one closes, the top ten are frozen into the league's history, the winner is announced, and a new season starts. Ranking is on your best single recording of the season.
What is a challenge?
Two people who share a league going head to head, best of one or best of three, for a stake such as a round of beers. Stakes are on your honour. The app keeps the record and lets either side mark it settled.
Can I delete a recording?
Yes. Swipe it away in the league, or from your own profile. It is gone.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, from inside the app: Profile, then Delete account. It removes your profile, recordings, photos, comments, ratings, challenges and league memberships, and it cannot be undone. You can also email hello@gettraf.app and we will do it within 30 days.
What do you do with my data?
The privacy policy is the complete answer. In short: what we collect is what the app needs to run, we do not sell it, we do not use it to train models, and recordings are sent to the scoring services only at the moment they are scored.
Is there a minimum age?
Traf is not intended for children under 13, and prize leagues are for players aged 18 or over.
What are the rules?
The Community Rules are published in the app, under Profile, then Community Rules, and every user agrees to them on creating an account. Hateful, sexual, harassing, impersonating, inauthentic or unlawful content is prohibited, and breaches are enforced by removal of content and suspension or termination of the account. Every recording, comment and profile can be reported from within the app, and any user can be blocked.
